Simone Groezinger, Germany Regional Director

Bischofswiesen, Bavaria

Simone started her yoga teacher training when she was still on active duty as an officer in the German Army Medical Corps. She served on two international missions (Afghanistan and Kosovo) and transitioned into civilian life in 2011. She found out about Veterans Yoga Project in 2015, trained with Dr. Libby in 2016 and now spreads the word on the power of trauma informed yoga specifically for veterans, active duty service members and first responders here in Germany/Europe (where this is still a relatively new thing). Offering yoga and meditation as a viable and efficient tool to foster self-care, maintain inner balance and increase resilience towards stress is a way to honor and express gratitude towards those who serve. Simone’s yoga specific training includes a 4 year teacher training in Munich (Desikachar lineage/vini yoga), Svastha Yoga Therapy Training (Ganesh Mohan, Guenter Niessen), Pain Care Yoga Certification Course (Neil Pearson) and Intro to Adaptive Yoga (Matthew Sanford) plus three VYP Advanced Training Summits in Montana. She is currently on her way to get certified as a yoga therapist through IAYT.

In addition to yoga, Simone likes endurance and outdoor sports like hiking, swimming, trail running, Nordic skating and backcountry skiing. She also enjoys reading, creating art, crocheting and knitting, playing music, gardening and tent camping.
