Monica serves as Chief Operating Officer of Veterans Yoga Project. Monica’s vast experience in business management and administration allows her to use her knowledge and energy towards the growth of the States through the offerings of yoga
programs. Her goal is to fulfill Veterans Yoga Project’s mission to support recovery and resilience among veterans, military families, and communities in each region.

Monica became involved with Veterans Yoga Project in 2017. After taking the Mindful Resilience
training, she established the prior Pacific Northwest Region. Today Monica is also the State Director for
Washington, which hosts 14 yoga classes for veterans, active duty, and their families and communities.
Currently, she teaches 5 classes per week for veterans.

Originally from Costa Rica, Monica began practicing yoga when she first moved to the United States in
2003. After obtaining her 200hr Teacher Training in 2014, she became a Baptiste Yoga Tier 1 Yoga
Teacher. In 2017 she completed her 300hr. Teacher Training. She has been the lead facilitator for a
couple of 200-hour Teacher Training at her local studio. Monica is an inspired Forrest Yoga Teacher and
has done several pieces of training in Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Ayurveda, Adaptive Yoga,
Next Generation Yoga, Vedic Thai Yoga, and Power Yoga under Bryan Kest’s Teacher Training.
When not practicing yoga or dedicating her time to Veterans Yoga Project, you can find her rock
climbing or hiking off-grid somewhere in Washington.
